Faking a Photo

Photos have been known to be edited throughout history. This had been done discreetly but evidence has been collected from throughout the years. Some more serious than others but this does alter facts of history and life. You cant always believe what you see and now photo journalism get sacked on the spot if they are caught altering an image.
some edits of a photography can be as small as darkening the image which can give a big impact on the actual picture for example Benito Mussolini had a horse handler with him in a photo taken of him on a big horse but to make himself look more heroic he had the horse handler removed from the original image to create a macho look of himself taming a horse by himself. in the image on the left you can see the man on his own but in the second photo the original shows he wasn't alone

History of the photography

In our introduction lesson we learnt about the start of photography and how images were first made, we watched a programme called 'The Genius of photography' this showed us how they got the idea of creating images by camera obscura. The camera obscura was a room or small building with no windows. One tiny hole, fitted with a lens projected images from outside the room onto the far wall inside it. The image was upside down and not very clear, but it was a good for artists. The projected image could be traced and then used for drawing or painting.

The first permenant photo took eight hours which was taken in 1826 by NiŽpce

Henry Fox Talbot and Louis Daguerre were the creaters of copper images and the first permenant negative film.

Kodak was first invented in the year 1888 by George Eastman.

Semiotics and Representation
We learnt about semenotics through the famous artist Magritte who painted a picture of a pipe and titled it 'this is not a pipe' in french. his point was that the picture is an image of the pipe not the actual pipe. in the year which this was painted and him to say this was quite imaginative. people after him now say to that particualr image that its not a painting of a pipe but a digital image of a photograph of the paining.

Semiotics is the study of signing system. it allows media texts to be taken apart.
Deconstructed to show how meaning (as well as an important aspects such as trust) are created.
